They fit me (size 18) with room to spare. I use them over leggings/tights for winter walks and recess duty. I pull them up over my knees and tuck them into my booties. They block the wind and insulate pretty well. They also work scrunched up if I have on longer boots or a longer skirt. They are warmer that way. I have not tried them with pants or jeans, like 80s style. The material is like ribbed cotton socks. Not super soft or super stretchy. I don't think they'd be very warm on their own on bare legs, but they'd take the edge off the cold wind.
